Public Health Execs Align to Statewide IS Vision

theDifference facilitated a 3-day Design Forum alongside its consulting partner, North Highland, for a statewide team of nearly 70 Public Health executives.

The event was designed to enable the team to create and align around a new vision and set of strategic priorities for the future state of Information Services within the Department of Pubic Health. Working on cross-geography teams with a focus on Data Standards, Data Collection, Data Storage, and Data Reporting, the team collaboratively built a new model for Information Services and developed the appropriate governance structure, change management plan, and communications framework for sustaining the implementation of the model. Led by Executive Director Tom Kehner from The Difference, the three day journey included creative elements to evoke necessary discussions across a diverse constituency, as well as contextual elements that gave the participants ample opportunity to generate an 18-month action plan with front-loaded activities that began immediately after the close of the event. One participant noted in the final report out, “Based on our agreement here, we’re now ready to move at lightning speed on a strategically important procurement for one of our important programs. We could not have accomplished this without everyone’s combined effort and desire to collaborate.”
